Issues

At the MTSA Strategic Planning meeting in May of '11, the Board selected four priority issues for 2011-2012.  MTSA will focus on these issues in a number of ways including Board discussion, Region meetings, newsletter articles and Annual Conference presentations.
Prioritizing these issues will allow MTSA to develop a concise message that is meaningful to its membership and assists in directing Board decisions.

Middle School Transition Practices
MTSA will identify current middle school best practices that link to Transition as a foundation.

Community Partnerships
MTSA will continue to build community partnerships at the State, ISD, LEA agency/business and student/parent levels.

Integrating Transition Concepts into Content Standards
MTSA will explore resources and supports to help classroom teachers integrate Transition concepts into content standards.

Student Engagement
MTSA will explore best practices for increasing student engagement in Transition, which will ultimately lead to improved post-school outcomes.
